The Rising Cost of VA Appraisals

The VA has raised appraisal rates to help veterans in this market.

The VA recently changed its appraisal fees. Ever since December 1, 2021, VA appraisals have cost $800. This pricing structure applies to all of Colorado and could be a little higher for people far in the mountains or in a multi-family unit.

About six years ago, VA appraisals cost $450, but they took over a month to get back. The VA raised these fees to better serve veterans. We want to get these appraisals done as quickly as possible to help veterans compete more aggressively in today’s market. The turnaround time is now about a week, and that seriously helps veterans compete with cash offers and conventional loans.
